I was delighted when I discovered that Nicholas Royle was releasing two more Nightjar Press single-story chapbooks. There was talk of the venture going electronic, but it wouldn’t have been the same. The essence of these little books is the ability to have and to hold. They are exclusive in their production – just a single story in an individually-designed book. Limited editions, signed by the authors. The stories are chosen for their ‘uncanny’ quality. Unsettling, disturbing, and a little unhinged. These are books to cherish. The latest launch is of two stories by well- established authors of novels and short fiction – Tom Fletcher and Alison Moore – with their stories The Home and The Harvestman. Nick introduces the latest hatching in the news pages of the Nightjar Press site. No spoilers here!
There are copies of more recent Nightjars still available on the Nightjar Press site, including one from me, Touch Me With Your Cold, Hard Fingers. (More information on previous blog posts and news pages – follow the Nightjar Press tag.) Books are designed by John Oakey.
Nice review of these two titles – and mine – in the Learn This Phrase blog.
